August 12-15, August 18-22, August 25-29, 2009 at 8pm Children of Eden
Based on the first nine-and-a-half chapters of the Book of Genesis in the Bible, Children of Eden is a joyous and inspirational musical about families and faith. This frank, heartfelt, and often humorous examination of the conflict between parents and children uses "Storytellers" as individual Biblical characters and as a modern Greek chorus to tell and comment upon the stories of the Garden of Eden and Noah's Ark. The score is a favorite of many Schwartz fans and includes a vast range of styles, not typically Broadway. The show provides a marvelous opportunity for kids to appear as Animals as well as Storytellers, and it uses the same principals in both acts, with the actors from the story of Adam and Eve each taking on a different character for the story of Noah. Ultimately, Children of Eden delivers the inspiring message: "Of all the gifts we have received, one is most precious and most terrible: The will in each of us is free, it's in our hands."
