And Then There Were None

*ABOUT THE PLAY* Agatha Christie was an amazing woman. Her literary output in plays, novels and even romantic fiction was prolific. Her personal life was eccentric. She refused to do interviews and disappeared for a year into a travelling dance troupe (very scandalous at the time). Her WW II experience included several years as a volunteer Ambulance driver in London during the Blitz and she donated the use of her mansion and estate to the US Army during the preparations for D-Day. This play is the virtual template for the modern murder mystery. It mixes the social behavior of the times with the Freudian and otherwise psychological problems of people. Her heroes are not that heroic and her villains both twisted and yet terrifyingly rational. We hope that no one you know (or sitting next to you) has the severity of mental illness that certain, possibly all, of the characters in And Then There Were None demonstrate. MIKE KNARR DIRECTOR |
