Doing what we do involves lots of people doing lots of different things, and we’ve got opportunities galore for every interest! Besides performing onstage, working backstage, or ushering at our shows, we’ve got groups of people that help to plan and coordinate every aspect of what we do, and have a great time doing it! Whatever your interests, we’ve got a committee that could use your help:


FUNDRAISING

The Fundraising Committee shall support the Board in the identification, planning, coordination, and execution of fundraising efforts throughout the year.
With decisions being made by the Board, the committee will:
  • Identify and recommend fundraising opportunities based on cost, resources and skills needed, alignment with SCCT mission and values, overall effort, and expected return
  • Create a fundraising schedule mindful of shows, auditions, and other SCCT planned events; as well as high-density local and community events such as Arts Fest and football games
  • Develop plans for successful execution of fundraisers to include a budget, resources list, timeline, and assigned tasks
  • Gather necessary resources, book venues, and enlist volunteers as necessary for the event
  • Work with vendors and venues for successful execution of fundraisers
  • Work with the Board and any marketing committees to promote fundraisers
  • Communicate on all fundraising matters with the Board, vendors, and other stakeholders
  • Organize and execute day-of activities

PLAY SELECTION

The Play Selection Committee shall support the Board in the discovery, analysis, and selection of all season shows, including but not limited to plays, musicals, murder mysteries, cabarets, and play readings.
With decisions being made by the Board, the committee will:
  • Identify and recommend a selection of shows and performances for a season, taking into consideration available venues, pool of talent available, production complexity, stock of props, set pieces, and costumes, cost and resources, mix of themes and interests, and expected interest of the community
  • Create a show schedule mindful of auditions, fundraisers, and other SCCT planned events; as well as high-density local and community events such as Arts Fest and football games
  • Investigate show suggestions by the membership and maintain a database of show information, including type of show, cast makeup, production needs, cost to purchase rights, running time, date(s) suggested, last performed by SCCT or other local group (if applicable), brief description of the show, and other pertinent information
  • When asked by the Board, assist in sourcing a Director, Stage Manager, and other production crew
  • When asked by the Board, assist in identifying readings and other audition materials for auditions

SPONSORSHIP

The Sponsorship Committee shall support the Board in community outreach and sponsorship activities throughout the year.
With decisions being made by the Board, the committee will:
  • Identify and recommend community outreach and partnership opportunities based on benefits and risks of such arrangements, as well as alignment with SCCT mission and values
  • Build and maintain relationships with other local and community organizations for future partnerships in events, activities, and fundraising
  • Source and secure season sponsorship from local business and organizations
  • Source and secure advertisements sales for the SCCT season’s programs or particular productions
  • Work with the Fundraising Committee, the Board, and the treasurer to source donations for fundraisers or other events, coordinate acquisition of donated items, and write letters of gratitude and receipts of donation
  • Create a database of outreach activities, organizational sponsors, and other partnerships for future use
  • Work with the Board and any marketing committees to ensure that sponsoring organizations are sufficiently represented in programs, social media, flyers, and other promotional materials
  • Communicate on all sponsorship matters with the Board, outreach partners, sponsors, and other stakeholders

VENUE

The Venue Committee shall support the Board in the sourcing and securing of space, land, and capital (together, “venues”) for SCCT events, including but not limited to performances, rehearsals, fundraisers, and auditions.
With decisions being made by the Board, the committee will:
  • Identify and recommend space, land, and capital necessary for future SCCT event, taking into consideration needs of events, cost, commitment, future utility, and the business’s alignment with SCCT mission and values
  • Work with other committees and group (e.g. fundraising committee, show production crew) and the Board to perform a needs assessments regarding venues and to evaluate possible venues for their suitability for a particular need
  • With approval from the Board, meet with business/land/property owners and tour spaces in order to assess venue suitability, scheduling availability, cost, limitations, and other pertinent factors in order to make recommendations regarding venue viability for a particular use; take pictures or videos where possible
  • Maintain meeting/discussion notes for any interactions with venue owners/operators
  • Build relationships with local businesses and vendors to more easily contract venues for future events
  • Maintain a database of contact information, space details, cost, pictures, and other relevant information on various types of venues that can be used by future committees and the Board
  • Where the recommendation includes purchasing or renting of capital with large expenditures, create a business case to justify cost, to include (but not limited to) reasons for the recommendation, risk to purchase/rent, risk to NOT purchase risk/rent, time to recover costs, and return on investment
  • Work with the Board to secure a fair contract with venues
  • Communicate on all venue matters with the Board, venues, vendors, and other stakeholders
