Director’s Note

Blitz Sisters examines the uncertainty of the time as well as the perseverance of the British during such a turbulent period. The playwright gives us a vivid glimpse into what every day was like in 1940s London. American textbooks may spend a paragraph or two on the Blitz during the section on World War II in history class. This show helps us go beyond those two paragraphs to see the everyday loss experienced by child & adult alike, the sacrifices made by every family, and the sound of a siren that forever burned itself into the ears of many.
