August: Osage County

*ABOUT THE PLAY* Every once in awhile in the theater something pops up that is truly special. Truly original, truly different and amazing on all fronts. That would be August: Osage County, the Pulitzer Prize winning play you will see tonight. It is both contemporary America in the 21st century and timeless in its often brutally frank portrayal of the Weston family. It is a black comedy that takes virtually every social problem you can describe (Alcoholism, Drug Abuse and Suicide just to get started) and makes them somehow painfully funny. I feel very fortunate to get an opportunity to direct this play. I believe it will be produced many, many times inthe upcoming years and I sincerely hope you enjoy our production. Thanks and all credit to our cast, crackerjack production team and my friend and Co-Director Nathan Smith whose help was much welcomed. MIKE KNARR DIRECTOR |
