*ABOUT THE PLAY*

I’m not sure what it says about how I come off in an interview that the powers that be at SCCT thought I would be the right choice to direct this play about a group of semi-crazy people and their definitely-crazy therapists, but I’m very glad they did choose me. “Beyond Therapy” contains the first scene I ever performed in the first drama class I ever took way-too-many years ago, and I’ve been a fan of the play ever since. Getting into the fractured psyches of these endearingly manic people has been a delight for me and the cast these past few weeks, and we’re excited you’ve all decided to sit in on our daily group therapy session.

The best note I can give to you about this play comes from the playwright Christopher Durang speaking through the beautifully askew mind of his character Charlotte: “If you take psychological suffering in the right frame of mind, you can find the humor in it.” I invite you all to do the same.
