*ABOUT THE PLAY*

Bye Bye Birdie has been entertaining audiences for more than 50 years and I’m sure tonight will be no different. This fun, toe-tapping musical first opened on Broadway in 1960 delighting audiences with such well-known songs as “Put on a Happy Face” and “The Telephone Hour.” Movies have been made, revivals have been done, and tonight you will see a cast (ranging in age from 13 to 76) of talented local performers from your community.

I am so proud of this cast and the hard work they have put in. Directing more than 40 people in one show can be a daunting task but they made my job a pleasurable and fun one. I am always shocked at the caliber of local talent and this show is no different. I appreciate all the time these cast members volunteer, including the parents of the 20 teenagers who drive them to and from rehearsals for more than a month straight. That does not go unnoticed and your support is so greatly appreciated.

To the production team, crew and everyone at State College Community Theatre; thank you so much for making my first experience as a director at SCCT such an amazing one. I could not ask for a more supportive and skilled team of people!

I hope everyone enjoys the show and leaves humming these classic tunes… I guarantee one to be stuck in your head, “We love you Conrad, Oh yes we do!”
