About the Show

She Loves Me

“Young man wants young lady. Young lady wants young man.” Sounds simple, doesn’t it? Yet we all know the inherent complexities of fulfilling that simple request. Yesterday, Lonely Hearts Clubs helped us find that magical element of chemistry. Today, dating sites like offer a new approach to an old industry–although some might say they take all the fun out of it!

She Loves Me

Enter Georg Nowack, who’s seeking a young woman to love. He’s a clerk in a parfumerie in 1930’s Budapest, but our setting could just as well be 1950’s middle America. Love transcends clothing and hairstyles and always makes a great story. She Loves Me is a great example of this, with a tuneful sophistication seldom seen in musicals of this era. Its story unfolds publicly in Maraczek’s Parfumerie and privately in the hopes and dreams the characters so eloquently express through their songs.

By the way, you may recognize the creative pens behind She Loves Me. They went on to write another little show called Fiddler on the Roof.
