Program Notes
Bigness is by no means an unqualified virtue, especially in this day and age, and therefore we don’t like to recommend our plans for the future merely because they are “big.”
What we intend to do is bring good amateur theater to Centre County on a year-round basis. This takes a certain amount of expansion.
This is why the Centre County Theater Association has taken over The Boal Barn and converted it into a theatre which just last summer was the scene of three excellent productions.
This is why we have set up a Film Guild, which at one and the same time supports our legitimate theatre activities and gives Countians a chance to see film classics a reasonable prices.
This is why we are tonight opening our winter season — which will feature three plays in this auditorium and one next spring in The Boal Barn Theatre.
This is why we are planning a very full and exciting season for next summer, also at the Barn.
Good theatre on a year-round basis. That is the goal of the Centre County Theatre Association and the Community Theatre of State College.
To achieve it, we need your support. A number of membership plans have been set up. Pick one that fits your needs for theatre — and your budget — and join us in what is proving to be the most exciting cultural enterprise undertaken in these parts ever!
Remember, bigness is not our aim; good entertainment is!
